Preliminary Notice of Race for X-35 class 

1 RULES

1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in    The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2 No National Authority (Finnish Sailing Federation) prescriptions will apply.

1.3 Boats may be required to display advertising provided by the organizing authority.

1.4 If there is a conflict between languages the English text will take precedence.

2 ELIGIBILITY

2.1 The competition is open for all LYS and ORCi boats, and X-35 class boats.

3 ENTRIES

3.1 Boats fullfilling the conditions of eligibility shall apply for the race by filling the entry form at www.turunpursiseura.fi or by sending it by fax and paying the entry fee no later than 10th August 2008.

3.2 The entry fee is 50 euros per boat and and is to be paid to

3.3 Payment shall be made no later than 10 August.

4.2 If four or more races have been completed in the regatta, no first warning signal for a race will be made after 1500 on Sunday 17 August.

5 CHECKS OF DOCUMENTS AND EQUIPMENT

5.1 Each boat shall present

1. a measurement certificate

2. a proof of third-party liability insurance; see paragraph 12

3. a receipt of the registration fee payment

4. a proof of membership in a club or other organisation affiliated to an ISAF member national authority

5.2 A boat or equipment may be inspected at any time for compliance with the X-35 class rules and sailing instructions.

6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

The Sailing Instructions will be issued to each competitor on completion of registration.

7 RACING AREA AND HARBOURS

7.1 The racing area is the northern part of the Sea of Airisto (see Finnish Chart no. 26).

7.2 The regatta base harbour will be the Yacht Club of Turku harbour.

7.3 Distance between race area and base harbour is about 3 NM.

8 COURSES

The courses to be sailed for X-35 class will be of the windward-leeward type.

9 SCORING

9.1 Six races are scheduled.

9.2 (a) When fewer than five races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b) When five or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

10 PRIZES

10.1 Prices will be awarded for first three boats in each class.

11 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk, see rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

12 INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
