No race results from Sunday Tulosta

Due to lack of wind no new race results came on Sunday. After the final protest against a protest decision from Saturday in the boys’ Zoom 8 class the final prize giving ceremony of the Volvo JNoM 2006 Nordic championship in junior sailing could start in the Marina of Ruissalo Spa Hotel.

All three medals went to the same country in two classes. Saturday’s most successful country Denmark got more medals. Henriette Frislev came first in the girls Zoom8 class. Silver went to Sarah Holm Jacobsen and bronze to Mia Ipsen.

Top four of the Laser Radial class were Finns. Miikka Paajanen won and Vili Kaijansinkko, Mattias Lindfors and Heidi Tenkanen followed.

Sweden mastered both Optimist classes. Oskar Häger and Carl Johannisson were the best two in boys’ races and Anna Hagberg won the girls’ race.


 
Danes were going strong on Saturday’s sail races Tulosta

Danes won almost all golds on Saturday’s races in the Volvo JNom 2006 Nordic championships in sailing for juniors. These included Danish boys taking all medals in Europe class, Katrine Andersen winning the gold in Europe girls’ class and the Danish chics also being best in the national teams’ race of Optimists.

Swedes were the best rivals of the day to the Danes. The Swedish boys won the national team race of the Optimists, the girls came second in their race. Josefin Olsson took the silver and Sofia Öjerborn won the bronze medal in the girls’ Europe class.

Three Nordic championship medals going to the same country in three classes Tulosta

After the second race day the Danish Zoom8 girls, the Danish Europe boys and Finnish Laser Radial sailors seem to be all aiming to winning all three medals according to the results in the Nordic championships in sailing.

Denmark was also going strong having two sailors among the three best in Zoom8 boy and Optimist boy classes. Sweden has been the strongest in the Europe girl and Optimist girl classes.

 
Finland won all 29er medals from the Nordic Championships Tulosta

Finnish twins Oskari and Valtteri Virtanen won the 29er Nordic championship in sailing. Mikko Hentinen and Joonas Tuhkuri came second and Roope Haapanen and Mikko KOtamies came third. The only foreign team Knut Osen and Sebastian Stigar from Norway came fourth.
 
Opening ceremony and first results for 29ers Tulosta

The opening ceremony of the Volvo JNoM 2006 race of Nordic Junior Championship in sailing was in Ruissalo, Turku on Wednesday. All the 368 competitors of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Norway and Sweden paraded to the opening ceremony.

In the afternoon the excited sailors finally got to do what they had come to Turku for, sailing. The Optimist, Europe, Laser Radial and Zoom8 set to sea for their practice races and the 29ers finally got to compete their first three races.

The winners of the 29er class the first day were Finnish twins Oskari and Valtteri Virtanen. Second came Knut Osen and Sebastian Stigar from Norway and the third ones were Mikko Hentinen and Joonas Tuhkuri from Finland.

 
The 29er class competitions cancelled due to strong winds Tulosta

Due to strong winds that at their highest were over 15 meters per second the organization pulled off the 29er class competetitors on tuesday. The class will start tomorrow at 4pm and try to compete the scheduled races of the day and the races of the missed day.
